What the numbers mean, who sees what, and what is real.
Every screen on this site is a real app or dashboard screen populated from one Savannah showcase pack. This page defines the words, the limits and the status of what you see.
Demo status: what is real and what is illustrative
Places, neighborhoods and photos are real and sourced: 50 Savannah places from Wikidata and OpenStreetMap, 14 neighborhoods with sourced centroids, and 27 place photos from Wikimedia Commons. Real businesses appear only with public information (name, category, website, location) and never carry views, saves, sales or orders.
Five merchants are illustrative: Tidewater Praline Kitchen, Marsh Light Candle Co., Live Oak Ceramics Studio, Spanish Moss Coffee Bar and Bluff & Bay Seafood Shack. They are not real businesses. Every product, price, order, promotion, happy hour and dashboard metric belongs to them and is labeled “Interactive product preview · Illustrative activity”.
All activity is synthetic: one seeded, deterministic event model generates every number on every screen, so Home, Businesses, DMO IQ, Chambers, CityIQ and the Partnership overview reconcile with each other. Nothing here is real visitor data.
- Monthly average
- 275,750 visitors in the app (3,309,000 a year), the showcase’s set figure. For scale, Visit Savannah publishes 12.9 million visitors a year for all of Savannah (via the Savannah Area Chamber tourism page, 2024).
- This week
- 63,600 visitors in the app, last 7 days
- Today
- 9,067 visitors in the app
- Featured merchant, last 7 days
- 965 views · 237 saves · 143 directions (illustrative merchant)
- Reconciliation
- 0 errors across the pack
Data definitions
- Visitor
- A device that opened the app in Savannah on a given day, counted once per day. Not a person, not a hotel guest.
- View
- A place or product page opened in the app. Views are not visits.
- Save
- A place added to a list or plan. Saves are plans, not arrivals.
- Directions
- A tap on Directions. The phone’s own maps app takes it from there.
- Check-in
- A Passport stamp earned at a landmark with the app open.
- Order
- A simulated pickup order at an illustrative merchant. No card, no charge, no payment processor.
- Origin market
- Stated home market, opt-in only. The showcase mix is illustrative, not published data.
- Active local
- A resident device that opened Local mode in a week, inside city limits.
- Forecast
- Seasonal naive: the next four weeks repeat the last four weeks. A planning baseline, not a prediction.
- Reporting period
- Completed two-hour windows that ended at least an hour ago; completed months for monthly figures.
Privacy limits
- Groups under 3 are never shown. Any visitor cell with fewer than 3 people is suppressed; slices under 25 trips read “Collecting”.
- Resident counts under 5 are suppressed in Local Pulse and City Voice.
- No individual tracking. Teams see grouped totals by neighborhood and category. No person, device or path is ever shown, and real businesses are never ranked or scored.
- Location is optional. The app asks for approximate location only for in-city features, and we save a neighborhood code, never an address.
- At least an hour behind. Visitor figures use windows that ended at least an hour ago, which helps keep people private.
The approved Privacy Policy governs if anything here differs.
Role access: who sees what
- Visitors and locals
- Their own saves, plans, orders and Passport. Never anyone else’s.
- Business owner (Business IQ)
- Grouped engagement for their own listing: views, saves, directions, orders, busy hours. Never who. No walk-ins, no sales they did not record themselves.
- Business staff
- What the owner assigns: updates, reservations, products. No billing.
- Destination team (DMO IQ)
- Citywide and neighborhood totals, origin markets, category totals, forecasts and reports. No business-level ranking, no individuals.
- City staff (CityIQ)
- Resident activity and visitor flow inside city limits, feedback themes, council drafts and department exports. Nothing here creates a work order, sends a message or changes a city system.
- Chamber (example)
- Participation and grouped engagement for members who opted in. Never private merchant records.
- Cities In My Pocket
- Operates the platform. Does not sell personal data.
AI and human approval
Savvy, Rex, Pip and Archer are AI assistants. On this site every answer they give is a scripted sample, labeled as such. In the product they prepare suggestions, drafts and summaries. They do not book, send, post, publish, charge or change anything without a person tapping yes.
- Pip drafts offers, updates and review replies; the owner publishes.
- Archer drafts board reports, council briefings and campaigns; the team approves. The showcase never sends anything, and approval is a recorded decision only.
- Savvy and Rex suggest places and plans; nothing is saved until you say so.
Reviews: the showcase does not invent customer testimonials, so review screens are shown empty.
